FAQs
-
Throughout July and into August, signups are accepted to join the FLL team, with meetings beginning in late August/early September. The signup link will be posted here each season.
-
We charge an activity fee of $100 which covers participating in the program, attending events, team shirts and swag, and everything needed for the season.
However, we never want cost to be an obstacle to access programs like these, and offer scholarships.
-
The team will typically meet twice a week for 2 hours at a time at the FRC190 Community Field at WPI. Participants are expected to be able to attend at least 90% of the meetings as it is crucial to the success and progress of their assigned team. Parents are not required to participate other than bringing their student to work sessions and events. However, parents are welcome to stay and participate if they wish.
There is no pre-meeting or after-care available, so parents must be prompt with drop off and pickup. The first time any parent is more than 10 minutes late there will be a warning, and any additional time will result in child’s removal from the team.

While the main mentorship will be by High School Students, certified WPI Staff will be present at all times when participants are present.
Following WPI’s minors policy, these staff members are fully background checked and have gone through necessary trainings to manage programs with minors. All FRC190 mentors are advised on the minors policy and will have clear instructions on safe, allowable behaviors.
All activities occur in an open space within our building, which is fully secured from the outside and requires ID access to enter.
